Available for sale in 2016, the new Bentley Bentayga SUV will be revealed this year. This will be the culmination of a four year development process which looks at every aspect of the design, development, build and marketing of the highly luxurious SUV addition to the Bentley range.
The market demand for luxury SUVs remains strong. More than just a new luxury model, the Bentayga represents the opportunity for the high-value British manufacturer to expand production and sustain the progression of craftsmanship, engineering and cutting-edge technology at its Crewe (UK) site.
The obvious difference to the sister Q7 is apparent, it looks like there was a definite decision by Bentley to engineer and build their own model at Crewe rather than use the existing Audi Q7 facilities in Germany. However with a former Bentley CEO who was responsible for introducing the Cayenne to Porsche, echoes of this rival can be seen in the hot weather testing clips that have been distributed.
Real details of the new model have not yet been released. The stylised marketing makes suggestions of snow forests and rugged peaks of subtropical Islands, wistful desert scenes and shadow lit automotive lines. Is it possible these aren’t predominately targeting the European audience? However, based on Bentley’s pedigree there can be no doubt thought this will be as billed, a British SUV which is the “pinnacle of luxury and performance”.
